Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day.

It was a quiet and exciting celebration here at our house.  That's just how I like it.  I was not about to deal with the crazy lovebirds at all the restaurants here in the city.  Therefore, we ordered in sushi and watched my Dad and myself on TV.  More on that in a second - so exciting, at least for me!  Rob surprised me with these gorgeous flowers.  Love!
And he too got some goodies.  The chocolate and peanut butter probably being his favorite.

I also hosted a Valentine's Day celebration at work.  I was quite busy the night before with all the baking, but was happy how it all turned out, and everyone loved the goodies I made.
I even put together little bag of cookies for each member. I come in early to the office, so I had them sitting at each desk when they walked in.  Just a little something to get the day started.
After all the work, it was nice to relax at home tonight. You know it's a great Valentine's celebration when you are comfy in jammie pants and a sweatshirt.  I seriously doubt any restaurant would have allowed me in with my dress code.  Quiet home celebrations are definitely my thing.  After all the mushy love stuff, it was on to my TV debut!  My Dad and I are officially famous.  Well, not even close, but it's fun to think so.  Don't worry, no agent is needed and I won't be quitting my day job.

As you probably have read from previous posts, my Dad and I (mostly my Dad) ran our local county fair for the last 10 years, and just recently stepped down due to the amount of time and work that was needed, and sadly with working full time jobs, it was getting to be a bit much.  Well last year the network, TLC, contacted me about filming an episode for their show DC Cupcakes out at our fairgrounds.  I jumped at the opportunity, and it definitely was an exciting memory.  Have you seen the show before?  Two sisters and their Mom own a cupcake store in DC, but then film a reality show as they go all around doing different events.  They came out for two days of filming, and the episode just ran tonight.  Rob and I taped it, and then Rob worked the remote so he could pause every now and again so I could get photos. I must say, I'm not a big fan of how I sound or look on TV, but I still wouldn't trade the experience.  Here we are meeting the sisters.  I was snapping so quickly, a bit blurry.
 Yep, that's a camel.  Like I said, it's a county fair!
Would have been nice if they gave me a little lipstick, at least.
My Dad.  He did a great job!

Giving the girls a tour.  Seriously, the camera does add 10 lbs.   Actually in my case, more like 20!

My Dad tasting one of the cupcakes during the cupcake baking contest.
We even made the credits.  :)
What fun, and so crazy to see yourself on TV.  We are so proud of this event and all that we did.  After a 10 year run, my Dad definitely went out with a bang.  He got the fair on National TV!  Awesome job, Dad!!
